Tour Maricopa County Facilities!

Court Operations and Intake, Transfer, and Release Center (ITR) Combo Tour

Welcome, NSA attendees to the Downtown Court Complex and ITR tour. We are excited to show you highlights of our recently renovated Detention and Courtroom areas within South Court Tower (SCT) and Central Court Building facilities. On this tour, you will see the renovated In-Custody Detention areas in the Central Court Building (CCB) as well as the state-of-the-art court rooms. Other highlights you will see on this tour are the recent renovations in our SCT building to include the renovated state-of-the-art control room and the Remand/Remote site booking areas. On the final leg of this tour, you will see our renovated Probation Court and Detention areas.  Opened in 2020, the ITR facility replaced the Central Intake processing center that was located at the 4th Avenue Jail in downtown Phoenix. ITR operates under the Strategic Inmate Management/Direct Supervision model, which utilizes direct supervision of detainees as well as positive management of inmate behavior. This shift focuses on the assumption most inmates in the jail system will comply with rules and regulations by staff utilizing positive reinforcement, communication, accountability, and mutual respect. It incorporates a system of inmate orientation, emphasizing expectations of appropriate inmate behavior and consequences for not meeting them. The ITR design allows for a more efficient intake and booking process. The ITR will process all releases from custody of the Maricopa County Jail system. The ITR processes approximately 100,000 bookings and 90,000 releases each year. Duration 2.25 Hours  |  Sign up here
